I am doing an engine swap (D24T/ZF) on a 92 745 and I have removed a sweet running B230FT with an AW 71 transmission.
The car was a non runner because the transmission was acting up. It worked when the engine was first cranked up but after a few minutes it would start making a whining noise and refuse to move. In my opinion as a machine engineer, the pump is cavitating, probably because the filter is plugged up. It could be an easy fix but not for me. Its free for anyone who wants to come and get it.
The turbo engine with 199k ran sweetly and quiet but the coolant is suspect. I would check the head gasket before I used it. It has a brand new timing belt, water pump and seals though I dont know which ones. Hoses and rad were also new so it may have overheated. The old rad tank broke I heard. I have some mpeg footage of the engine running and being revved. $100 would get it along with manifolds, turbo, injectors, engine mounts etc. I also have the Bosch coil, ECU, idle stabilizer valve and other stuff available.
It seems a shame to carry this stuff to the junk yard but I have nowhere to store it. My garage overfloweth.
If anyone is interested let me know. The big stuff would need to be picked up in central South Carolina.
