On way home tonight timing belt broke. Had to have car towed home. I plan on replacing it tommorrow. I have never replaced a timing belt before. I have read FAQ, etc. As I do not have time to get tool to remove pully I plan on using the rope trick. As far as alignment goes I plan on aligning camshaft marks up top and aligning crankshaft marks at bottom and then putting new belt on. Will check if I need to replace tensioner. This seems like a relatively simple easy maybe 3x hour job. Is it really that simple or am I in for a big project ? Any advice, suggestions, pointers, tricks would be very greatly appreciated. Only belt I can find for tommorrow is a Dayco. Is that a good one ? Otherwise only other choice would be Volvo belt from dealer.
