Know how to suck a 245 Dry on gas now thanks to IKE. 200

The Internet and Volvo's dang that is good to think about. Never thought that would be hard to get to, but it has been for four long long days now.

For the record the best way to suck a gas tank dry on a 245 is to pull out the floorboard and pull the bung nut off. Doing that in 90 degree heat without the right tools was a blast. But Inga gave all of her gas to the cause Saturday night. It takes about 12 gallons a day to keep the generator running and Inga was about the only option left since nothing was open and no one had power. She was full thank the lord and that got us to the next fill up.

Hope all you South and East Texas Volvo guys and gals all made it OK. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and it may be several days before any of you can read this. I was blessed with no damage except for trees and no power. For some reason I have cable and internet. Would trade for the reverse by the way. Have a generator that has powered three fridges in houses next door and mine until today. Did not have enough left to power luxuries like computers or even lights. Put the neighbors on a rotation of six hours each and moved the cords when the time was up. But today have a bigger unit scored when walking into Lowes this morning. Now have a couple of lights, TV and little AC unit running. The neighbors all found generators today so now yes I have two. Sending the smaller one north 150 miles to the daughter who also has no power. Life is somewhat better when the toilet flushes, you have clean running water, and a couple of lights. It may be as long as a week or more before they can fix the power. Lots of pole damage and trees on wires. We were assessed today, meaning that the came out and looked. Saw a Canadian Power Crew today so help is coming (insert Ayyyhh here). They are being very well cared for as all of those power folks are.

There are a lot of tired, hot, mosquito bitten folks down here who all stayed here because we were asked to stay by our government. We all did and the first 72 were on us, but the four letter word FEMA had better really step it up tomorrow. The concept of an area the size of Pennsylvania with over 4 million homes without power or worse is a bit overwhelming but that is the job.

If you live near Pasadena, the Lowes, Home Depot, and Pep Boys at Beltway 8 and Fairmont Parkway all had generators today. More are supposed to be there tomorrow. The Murphy Oil in the Walmart Parking lot has a gas line of less than 10 minutes and it is right there also. If you know someone who needs gas or power, but can not get internet pass that along would you please.

Thanks and Regards,

Paul
