Hi, all.
I pulled off my control arms (or A-arms?) to replace the bushings with IPD's poly bushings. The rear bushings (the big, fat ones inside a "cup") are no problem, but I can't install the front ones!
I burned out the old rubber bushings, but the remaining hole is too tight for the Poly's to be inserted. They just can't go in without bulging this way and that, and then it's impossible to insert the metal cylinder inside the bushings. It's really as if the Poly's are the wrong size, too large.
I just barely, vaguely, remember someone (on this forum) once mentioned that there's an outer shell from the old bushings that also needs to be removed, but I can't see it (probably because of the carbonized remnants of the rubber) -- and I don't want to cut through and destroy the walls of hole of the control arm itself.
So, is there an outer shell that remains to be removed? I can cut a slit with a dremel side-cutting bit, but I need to know if that is the case.
Thanks, all.
