I pulled the rear lights off my '70 145 to paint the insides in "reflective aluminum" paint.
So I cleaned everything real well and figured I'd also clean all the terminals and ends. Then I put a voltage tester to the ends just to make sure 12 volts +/- was getting to the lamps.
I had 0 volts to everything at first - that's fine.
Then I turned on the parking lights and had 11.5 volts at that wire - OK.
But now here is the strange part...I found that the reverse lamp wire and the brake lamp wire both had about 0.35 volts going to them with neither the car in reverse or a foot on the brake.
I shut the parking lights off, but the 0.35 volts remained at the reverse and brake lamp wires.
The car then sat for an hour and a half and no voltage was detected at any of the wires. Tried the same thing as above and had the same results.
So what's the deal with that small amount of voltage at those two wires when everything is off? Anyone else ever notice something like that.
Could someone maybe try the same experiment on their 145 and see if you get the same result?
This car has sat for months on occasion and had no apparent battery drain so I don't think this is a major "short" or something like that. Still...
Thanks
