engine misses a few times on steep incline 700 1991

1991 740 wagon with B230F, LH 2.4, automatic.

engine will hesitate and miss and has noticeably less power when driven uphill.

I replaced the O2 sensor, cleaned the oil breather, replaced the spark plugs, put on a used anti-knock sensor (from our parts car), and added some Techron fuel injector cleaner. It runs better but still "missed" once going uphill.

It seems to have valves that are tending to rattle upon acceleration more than our other old Volvos --- almost like it is too advanced, but lacks horsepower like it is too retarded.

What next? Temp sensor? Catalytic converter? EGR valve? ECU? Throttle body?
