'92 740 W/Regina Single Fuel Pump 700

Good Evening Folks;
My daughter's 740 wagon needs a new fuel pump. It is a Regina car with a single in tank pump. My local Advance Auto parts sold me a Master Pump E3240. It is suppose to cross with a Carter P74006. I installed the pump and the car will not start. It will fire but not keep running. I have checked the FAQ's and other on-line sources an have found a Master E8279 that according to the FAQ's has more line pressure. Also has anybody found any information on that little oval unit that mounts just above the pump between the metal line and the pump itself?

Regards and thanks;
Mike Coleman
