260 Auto to Manual Conversion 200 1976

I have located an interesting 1976 260 series worth saving but it is an automatic and if I buy it I will HAVE to convert it to a manual. What are the real issues with this? V6 specific items like bellhousing, rear end different on auto and manual cars, etc? And what year cars are OK for parts donors? I would prefer encouragement with sound advice, or discouragement also only with sound reasons. Now let's see what happens...
