Updated front cover & crank seal 120-130

Hi. If I want to install an updated crank seal to my original/stock front cover, can I bring the cover and the updated seal to a machine shop to have the cover machined to accept the seal? Is it a complex cut? Or is just a larger id and maybe deeper groove required? I'm wondering if I can buy the seal and have a machine shop do my cover and maybe save $30 in the end.

Any thoughts?
