The car is a 1993 240 with 170k miles. For a while now, there has been an intermittent issue with starting. Sometimes it'll start up just fine, sometimes the car will surge and not start at all. As weather gets warmer (I live in the DFW area), the problem increases, to the point where I have to keep my foot (slightly) on the gas while shifting into drive to get the car to not die. After a poor start, I also experience some "acceleration hesitation": I'll depress the gas pedal a good amount and the car won't accelerate for 1-3 seconds.
I read up a little in my service manual and it's looking like my "transfer fuel pump" is either dead or dying.
My level of experience/expertise is minimal at best and the work will probably not be done by me, I'm just interested to see if you all agree with my diagnosis of the problem.
