Hi Bricksters
For the past week and a half, I have been doing spring cleaning on my 95 940: new valve gasket, tb gasket, valve cover gasket, intake gasket, tune-up, new injector seals, new pressure regulator, coolant flush, heater hoses, etc. etc. etc. and tonight I began installing rear deck speakers.
The speakers went in smoothly. Before I put everything back together, I wanted to test whether they worked as they should. I put the battery in, hooked it up properly, put the key into second position, and the speakers sounded great. A minute into fiddling with the radio knobs, the garage started to reek like rotten eggs. After disconnecting the battery, the smell began to dissipate.
This was the first time the battery has been in the car since I started doing the work almost 10 days ago, and the car was not running when I did the sound check.
My question to all of you is this just a bad battery?—it is a 3 year old Everstart battery. Could it possibly be an alternator problem although the car was not running? Could it be possibly anything else?
I’m trying to narrow down possibilities, and I appreciate all input.
Jeff
