There was a strong smell of gas soon after I started the car and while driving it. The front injector was leaking at the fuel rail so I ordered a set of 0-rings from FCP Groton. When I pulled out the fuel injectors they were a different style than what I had seen at various auto parts websites. It turns out they are the same ones as from a 1999 XC70. I don't know if someone swapped them out or what.
Anyway, I thought I would post the differences in case anyone else runs into this. The fuel injector only uses 2 o-rings, of the same size, top and bottom. If you order replacement sets of o-rings for the injectors that should be on this car then you only need 4 sets because each Bosch set has 3 o-rings in it. You won't need the spacer or the yellow sleeve. I could not find an o-ring set online for my injectors. At least, not one that looked any different than the ones I ordered.
There is one tricky part. The fuel injector does have fairly large plastic sleeve at the injection end. These looked brittle and had some small cracks in them. This makes it difficult to get the o-ring on. I tried to gently pop the sleeve off but was afraid of breaking it since there was no replacement in the o-ring set. I ended up putting some ATF on the o-ring and placing one edge in the o-ring slot and then, using a small screwdriver, stretched the o-ring over the plastic sleeve without putting any pressure on the brittle sleeve. It takes quite a bit of strength to stretch it that far. The sleeves got a few little nicks in them and one had a small piece break loose, but nothing catastrophic.
Other than that it was a fairly uneventful job, with the exception of the hour I spent fishing out the center fuel rail bolt that dropped into the bowels of the engine. I eventually got it by fishing blind with a magnetic extension.
