Are 740 Distributor caps (Regina) supposed to have gaskets? 700

Hey,

I replaced my distributor cap & rotor today.

The old ones were in terrible shape. Full of burnt up dust and oil and whatnot. Ugly. The car is running much better now.

The new one did not come with a gasket for the cap, nor did the old one have one.

Is it supposed to? Seems like water could get in without it... and cause, e.g., cold starting issues. Ahem.
