Hi.

I have a 1984 245 Gas Turbo with the 4 gear manual transmission + 5th gear electronically engaging overdrive.

I've noticed that when driving at higher speeds, generally around 45 or 65mph, there is sometimes a high pitched squeal that comes from the transmission. The sound comes and goes and isn't terribly loud, but the high frequency is unpleasant.

Do I have a bad pilot bearing? If so, is it dangerous to continue driving with the car in this condition?
