M-46 Hard to engage in first gear, weird problem solved. 200 1982

I have a 240DL 1982 manual transmission with 300k km. The clutch, both bearings, pressure plate, oil seal and clutch cable were replaced with volvo parts 70k km ago.

Me and my wife are easy on shifting the transmission. Since 6 months the transmission was hard to engage in any gears, but specially 1st would not go in.
The syncro would resist. Lately I noticed that this was specially happening as we brake hard to a stop while shifter is in neutral position.

I was almost convinced I would have the trouble of removing the M-46 for inspection. I had a feeling it would be the pressure plate that was gone. I was mad.

In despair I though I should heat that clutch disk to clean it up. I shifted in 4th gear, rev'd the engine to 3500-4000 rpm and released the clutch pedal slowly 4 times keeping the brakes on.

To my surprise it solved the problem. My wife is quite happy with the results. She wanted me to get rid of the car or have it repaired fast. I am happy with the outcome. As we all know, some mechanics can do an expensive repair which in this case is not fully justified. Not yet.

I noticed a trace of oil hanging under the bell housing. It may be that the flywheel or the clutch disc became sticky with wear dirt.

Anybody ever have that problem?

Just wanted to share my experience with others on the brickboard.
