Vacuum line connection 200

While I was out working on my 83 240 last night I noticed a vacuum line hanging between the engine and the fire wall. This line comes out of the firewall with the normal vacuum line then connects to a a black and white check valve. A larger piece of rubber hose is connected to the other end of the check valve (looks almost like fuel hose). I'm assuming this is the vacuum line for the heater control but I don't know where it is to be connected to the engine? Any help would be great!
