My '70 142S has been gradually losing power for about a month. I've also noticed a small fluctuation in power when I'm pressing the throttle steadily. It's like the engine let's up just a bit intermittently, dropping rpms a noticable amount for a second here and there. It's more noticeable at lower rpms. The last time I drove her I barely made it home, as the fluctuations became much more pronounced. She's idling super low in D at a stop (but not in P or N), and has almost no power when getting her moving. Even whem I got the rpms up, after a struggle, she wasn't moving very fast at all. I limped her home at about 20 mph, rolling through the stops that I could. She stalled in my driveway and hasn't moved since. Adjusting the choke made almost no difference. I know my choke cable is connected, I know my fuel pump is working properly, and I know my timing gear is worn and a little loose. It's got a newer distributer that's only 6 mos. old w/ new plugs and wires.
On perhaps a seperate note, she's also become increasingly hard to start over the last month or so. While it's cold here in Boise, I keep her in the garage overnight, and the difficulty in starting her up has increased regardless of changes in the weather.
