No charging light on display after alternator replacement 200 1986

Today I finished replacing all the accessory mount bushings on the alternator, PS pump and AC compressor. I recall seeing and removing 3 wires from the alternator yesterday.....the fat red one, the black one next to it, both on the topside of the rear of the unit. I also recall removing a small one from the bottom of the unit. I can't seem to locate it. (I removed the alternator to get better access to the motor mount bolt). After looking all around that area, and looking in my Haynes manual which only appears to so the top two, I buttoned everything back up and it started ok. But now the little battery symbol on the dash won't light up when the key is turned to the near start or the start position. Should I take the unit out again and keep searching or is this ok for now? I probably won't sleep well tonight thinking about this issue.

Thanks for looking.
