Hi friends!
I'm typing this from a library computer because I've been stranded in a parking lot for the last 3 days. Arg. It's about 30 degrees right now in wisconsin and I'm staying at a friend's house and I'm starting to run out of clean underwear. (for real!)
Okay. I have an 83 245 turbo and since it's started to get cold, i've had to use a little gas to keep the car idling.. Usually I'll just put it into gear with my foot on the gas and after a slight amount of driving, it idles fine. Several days ago, it started having A LOT of troubles starting in the morning, it would turn over absolutely fine, but wouldn't keep idle at all, but if i really pushed down on the gas, i could get the car warmed up (?) and it would idle decently and be driveable. Right now, after about 6 starts where i push the gas down really far and the rpm gauge just dropping like a rock after about 3 seconds (and i have to restart the car again), i can get the car to stay on at really high rpm. But if i let off of the gas, the car wants to die... it sounds horrible.. coughing, and backfiring..
Any ideas?
thanks!
Zach
