Hi I am a bit anxious that I have already 'posted' but it is not showing up...
I have just had my '91 245 'check engine light' on + fuel pump noise, and general 'not feeling right' long crank/hard to start diagnosed as:
1) The 'pre-pump' needs replacing ($500.++)
2) The AMM may have been triggered by 1) (above)
3 Maybe a screwy O2 sensor.
The [cheap] solution was to reset the light and keep the tank full (not as easy as it sounds).
I want to know
A) Do people have good experiences with the rebuilt AMMs from IPD?
B) Can I realistically do the pre-pump part myself? (what tools do I need?
C) How does the flame trap relate (some posts here suggest a connection).
Thanks,
Rod
(I always seem to be driving up or down hill, exacerbating the tank problem)
