B230F Unusual Idle Question 700

I have some unusual behavior with my idle on my '92 745. Overall the B230F runs great. However, after the car has warmed up the idle will be high...about 1200 in drive, 1400 or so in park. If I shut off the engine and IMMEDIATELY start it back up the idle is back to normal. After driving again it idles high again. Sometimes this will fluctuate, but everytime it is high I do an immediate restart and the idle is normal again.

Also, for the first time the car wouldn't start the other day. Turned over fine didn't start. Crap. It finally started and I haven't had the problem since but I am constantly worried about it now, which is a real bad thing with a Volvo.

For the latter event I suspected the fuel pump, but I'm not sure. I'm thinking it might be the FI relay for both problems. The car is generally well kept...new fuel filter, had injectors bench cleaned, regulator, etc.

What are your opinions?

Thanks!
Tom
