The guide in the FAQ for doing this job is really great, everything went smoothly for me. I lined up the timing marks on all three gears, and everything stayed put while I had the belt off. Going back on seemed more difficult, as if the new belt were about a half a tooth too short. All told, the intake cam moved about a quarter of a tooth while the crank and exhaust cam remained exactly where they were. I was worried, but if anything, the car runs better than before.
Anyways, I thought the timing mark on the crank was hard to see, so I tried to take a picture of it for future timing belt changers.
This is the B6304 engine, just so there's no confusion. Crank is seen from above.
