I must have been asleep at the wheel (figuratively, of course!). I had put aside a supply of 122/1800 (up to about 1967/68?) rear axle seals when I found a bunch at a good price. This is the "rubber", (i.e. neoprene) seal which keeps the differential oil in. I believe they were originally called "Stela" type seals, with a high (5/16") shoulder. Funny how a lot of rear brake jobs seem to be traceable back to these babies! How about a source for the felt type seal which keeps the wheel bearing grease away from the brakes?
Now that I went and used them all up, without being able to restock, I can't find anything locally. There were some Chicago Rawhide and National seals which came real close to the right dimensions, but nothing that was the right fit. These are the outer seals, just behind the rear wheel bearings. Anybody have a reliable source for these? Best would be without having to purchase an entire kit. I'll buy a dozen or two, if I have too. Hate having a car sitting around waiting for parts!!!
