Radiators are not rocket science 900

I'm at wit's end about my radiator. My local mechanic is a Master Volvo Tech and very experienced with Volvos. He assures me that the radiator in my 94 960 is original factory. I've bought two radiators for this car from reputable suppliers, and both have male fittings for the trans cooler lines that are too small for the tranny cooling lines. They fit a 940, but not my 960.

Rick at Import Parts Specialists spent most of an afternoon trying to resolve the problem. His Volvo sources are telling him that Volvo radiators come with only a female receptacle for the trans cooling lines, and that the aftermarket suppliers usually provide the adaptors. Rick thinks that, no matter which brand or who I buy from, I'll get the same fittings that don't fit.

So what are the rest of you guys doing when you replace the 960 radiators? Something doesn't add up here.

BTW, I'm assuming that I can't reuse the fittings on my factory radiator. When I removed the two trans cooling lines, the two fittings seemed to be attached to the same bar inside the tank and rattled around as a unit. Is it possible that I can just unscrew the fitting from the unit inside the tank, or is it fabricated as a single unit that can't be separated?
