Recently a friend let me drive their 1992 960. Wow! My 1989 745T seems like a unrefined tractor in comparison ... although over the long haul I'll have an easier time fixing said "tractor" and not having electronic climate control et al farg up.
Now, onto my idea/question. I've often thought the A/C return route which travels past the exhaust manifold/turbo is not ideal. The line going back to drier/receiver will pick up a HEAP of heat from exhaust manifold/turbo. But looking at my friend's 960 engine, I noticed Volvo covered the manifold with an alum heat shield:

My question for A/C equipped B230's: Has anyone added a heat shield and noticed an appreciable difference in A/C temps?
