Found this universal cat on ebay for 20 something bucks. To me it looks like anything else out there in way of an aftermarket. What would the pitfall be putting this on my car.
Another question, do the 85-93 cats work on a 83? I'm guessing the only difference is that the o2 hole is on the cat but my 86 has the o2 still on the manifold.
Trying to figure out a cheap way to get a better looking cat on an 83 and see if it helps with increasing power. I'm thinking it might just need a new timing belt and tune up but its gutless up hills and hesitates on accel. Just replaced the O2 sensor but no change in power. (old o2 was black on the tip) Still the car is not registared so I don't know if it really needs a new cat. The entire exhaust system had problems when I bought this project car. The car has no rust but the exhaust had large holes. I replaced the two mufflers to tail pipe using a used piece, installed cost me $75. Just got a new header and now with a new cat I'd have replaced the whole thing other than the rusted manifold. Any word of wisdom would be much appreciated. (I read the archive and know about the plug hole ont he 85-93 coming out if you don't tighten first.)
