89' 240DL timing belt 200 1989

I suspect my timing belt broke today.

I was tooling down the road at around 40mph, when the engine just shut off. Pulled off the side of the road tried to kick it over, it spun faster than normal - Probably a timing belt.

My mechanic says it's an interference engine so it's toast. It's marked as an interference engine in his NAPA belt guide. He hasn't actually looked at it yet, we'll now more tomorrow...

What say you good folks?

Is my near mint 240 now a junker? Intereference or No?
