cat converters 900 1997

Hello All.

Last week I was cruising down the freeway in my '97 960 at about 70 and began to notice that rotten egg smell...no, i had not just eaten a burrito. I think the cat is going. Researching the web, I found cats ranging from $500 to $94. I'm on a student budget and am inclined to go with the cheap ones. There is an Eastern mfg for ~125 and a Magna Flow for 94. Are these a waste of money?

Also, is this a job I can do by myself? I have some tools, but no welder. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Kay
