Filling M46 Tranny Thru Reverse Light Switch - Best Way ?? 200

1986 stickshift sedan with M46 & overdrive. Want to change tranny fluid. My fill plug is stripped/unremovable. Read here about filling thru drain plug hole. Seems messy. Tried to figure out thread size of drain plug so as could use a fitting with barb on one side to securely hold hose in. Can't figure out thread size. Think maybe it is metric. It is not 1/2" NPT nor is it 15/16" either. So as also read here about filling thru reverse light switch I have decided to do it that way. What is best way to do this ? Lower tranny then work from top thru stick shift lever/boot opening ? Or work from bottom of car ? What wrench/socket size is reverse light switch ? Will I need crows foot ? What size is hole ? Fill fluid thru tube from inside car or outside ? Suggestions, advice, help with this are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
