My 1992 Volvo 240 with automatic began a strange shudder today. I was driving at highway speed and as I would go up a slight incline, I would get a 1-2 second shudder with a loss of power feeling, and then the car would go back to feeling fine. I tested this under load again later by starting from a stop at the bottom of a hill and accelerating up the hill. The harder I accelerated the more pronounced the shudder, but it would happen in an on again and off again fashion. It really feels and sounds like the engine drops rpm when the shudder occurs, but I am not too sure. I read lots of posts regarding shudders that are related to cv joints and tranny mounts. It almost sounded like those shudders were constant under load. Mine isn't at all. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Also note, the A/C was not on during any of this shuddering. The shudder is quite a bit more pronounced than that from the A/C compressor. Many thanks.
