Cannot get plug wires to 'snap' on plugs 200

I'm replacing my plug wires with original Volvo wires and the plugs are Volvo as well. However, on the #1 and #4 plugs, the wire boots will not snap into place even with force. The #2 and #3 plug wires snapped on the plugs without effort. Can I put some grease or something on the plugs/boots to make them snap on easier?
