I have a 100 amp BOSCH alternator (0 120 468 009) out of a 1990 Turbo installed in my 86 240 DL wagon which has gone south. I got a set of brushes for the voltage regulator but when I went to install them I found that there was no easy method to put them in. I pushed out the rivets that held the original brushes, but now I have to devise a method to attach the wires from the brushes to the voltage regulator. Does anyone know how to accomplish this task? It's my understanding that the thing that fails on the Bosch alternator are the brushes on the voltage regulator. My Voltage regulator has BOSCH # 1 197 311 022.
Also, I've heard that a single wire Chevy Delco alternator can replace the Bosch unit. Does anyone know what model of Chevy or Delco alternator that can be used on a 240 Volvo? Also what do I do with the extra red wire, the 61 point, on the Volvo diagram. I suspect that the B+ point is the one that you hook the Delco single wire up to. Can anyone please help me with these questions?
