How to tell if I'm a tooth off? How many degrees? 200 1989

Hi,
I have a starting issue and want to make sure the timing belt hasn't moved. How many degrees would being a tooth off be if I check it with a timing light? I did a very quick check last night and the timing appeared to be at least close but I got to thinking that I really don't know how much it would be if it were a tooth off. I'm sure the problem could vary based on which gear is off. It seems like I would only see the problem with the timing light if the crank or the intermediate shaft were off. If it was only the cam, it might not run well but the timing light would look ok?

Also, should it have issues running if it is a tooth off? It seems to run ok. I had this problem once about 10 years ago and my shop handled it. They said it was a tooth off. The car ran poorly on a trip and then wouldn't start.

Thanks!
Lyle
