There have been some recent postings about buying tires on this forum.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what tire I'm going to buy, this is going to be the 5th set for this car (I'll probably stick with Michelins).
Previously, I had posted that when I buy my next set I'm going to check the prodution date, as lately Discount Tire was giving me crap saying my tires were too old to fix a leak caused by a nail.
It appears that tire sellers are going to a de facto policy of denying repair/forcing replacement of tires that are over 5 years old, BUT they are using the production date on the tire, not the purchase date. (My current tires were made 14 months before I bought them, I had only owned them 3 yrs 10 months).
I was at Sam's Club today and wandered over to the tire area. Not to many choices in my size, but one set of four looked odd. I looked at the production date on the tires (Michelin X's) and they were made in January 2003! I looked at a few more and found some from 2004 & 2005 on others that would fit my car.
I did check some of the SUV tires and find some that were made just 2 months ago...
