Genuine Volvo Thermostat? 200 1982

My Bentley manual says to only use a genuine Volvo thermostat when replacing the unit. I think mine is starting to stay open and the motor is running a little on the cool side and I want to replace it.

Is it necessary to stick with the Volvo unit? I just called the stealership and they want $22 for the thermostat and $25 for a gallon of antifreeze. Oh yeah, they want $100 for EACH engine mount...

Any words of advice on this one?
