please help with rear seat belt retractor 900

I have a great '93 960 (and an '89 240 w/ 311k)..

I folded down the split seat on the 960, and now the larger split, the one with the seat belt , will not go back up. It acts as if the seat belt retractor is stuck and will not disengage, allowing the seat to be raised.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
