Pre Fuel Pump (In Tank) 200 1990

Im certain my in tank pump has failed; symptons: harder (need to crank twice) starting at low tank fills, I think the main pump is noisier, I dont here anything running in the tank.

Two questions:
A new pump from FCPGroton is 35 vs 100+ from the discounted Volvo dealer, is it worth the extra?

How hard is the change? Seems straight forward in the Bentley Manual, I have a sedan, open the cover, remove the bung and replace. Hardest part seems to be removing the hose from the tank to the main pump?
