ok, so i finally got my fuel pressure tester and hooked it up to my 79 242gt. system pressure is good, but when i open the guage valve, control pressure drops to below 10psi, instead of around 22 where it should be. control pressure did not rise as the pump ran, though i did not start the engine, i just jumped the safety circuit and ran the pump. i am assuming that since control pressure dropped so far the control pressure regulator is done, yes? anyone? i didnt check to make sure that voltage was getting to the CPR, i figured it didnt really matter, the electrical connector is attached to a heating coil to help the CPR respond faster to warm up, right? so it shouldn't make a difference for cold control pressure, only for warm pressure. i could find no visible leaks in the return line to the fuel tank. residual pressure is good. i found it strange that when i was doing my control pressure test the guage read ~10psi, then when i turned off the pump the guage jumped to ~30psi. anyway, ive already taken the leap and ordered myself a new CPR, but i thought id refer to those who know more about this than i do and seak out justification for ordering a $350 dealer part. thanks for any help.
