Okay here goes; my wife wants a newer car. We have been driving older 240's for quite awhile and we are both ready to drive what will feel like a newer car. We currently drive a '89 240. Would the same year 740 feel like it was newer than the same year 240? Will the AC system on the 740's be easier to fix than on our 240?
I am not knocking the 240, but I would like to drive a car that rides and handles a little smoother. Our 240 has all new front end and new shocks and struts. It looks like it will either be a used 740 or a used japanese car. I would like to stick with volvo for obvious reasons.
I would presume that being that the 740 is a newer series that it would also drive and handle somewhat "better."
Out here in the rust belt I am tired of the gas tanks rusting out on every 240 that I have, and I think that the 740 ones are plastic.
There was a turbo 740 for sale; if the turbo goes would it be hard to convert it to NA? I have never had a turbop before and I am somewhat hesitant to get one as I don't need any more systems to maintain.
Thanks for all of your feedback.
