the oddyssey of a 240 series throttle body rebuild 200 1988

As I mentioned in another post, I decided to take on the TB rebuild when my brick reached about 250,000. Its a 240DL , vintage 1988. I have a spare 87, I am using for parts but which isnt that far gone.

Once I got the TB off, found black crud encrusted all over the bowl and butterfly valve and it took quite a bit of soaking and brushing and light scraping to get all the stuff off. Unfortunately I had submerged the TB switch so I decided to either use my used one or get another, so I opted for a new one along with the new interior gasket from FCP Groton. Unbelievably Volvo doesnt list the gasket as a serviceable part. Groton sells it for .75.
HELP !!!!
Now I can't get the idle air adjuster out. Thats the black plastic knob. It unscrews just so far then keeps turning. Do not wish to break. Any suggestions ? It needs to be refit with a new o-ring.

This is my first TB rebuild. I am doing it to correct a diminishing and inconsistent idle speed. Hopefully I can be a resource for tothers when this is done.

Any help will be appreciated.
