Oil pressure update, more questions 700 1988

I have manged to pull the timing cover off of the motor and am running through all of the specs to make sure that everything is in order before i go after the main crank bearings as a possible issue there are however a couple of things that i noticed and would appreciate any input from you folks.

First, when i pulled the distributor off about a quarter cup of oil poured out of it. Obviously the seal is bad, at least that is what i assume, but what i wonder is could a leak this bad cause low pressure?

Second, i found it interesting that the volvo shop manual doesnt even suggest the crank bearings as a possible cause for low oil pressure, does that seem odd to anyone else?

Thank you all again,
Jesse Erickson
