I really need to stop making things worse. I've made this a new post because I've created a new problem.
While I was cleaning up for the night and tightening the air hose going from the intercooler to the intake I slipped and pulled the little wire off the starter. Big spark. I had disconnected the - battery terminal while working on the car but, it was back on at this point. I quickly pulled the negative cable off again and tried to reconnect the little wire. I crimped a new end on it hooked it up and now my starter won't engage.
This started with one little 1 1/2" screw!!! I REALLY don't want to replace the starter. Is there anything else I could check? There was a substantial ammount of time between pulling the starter wire off and actually repklacing it. This whole time the ignition was in 2 position so I guess it's possible the battery is dead. I was trying to crank the car a lot over the preceeding 45 minutes. Dash lights are on and voltmeter is pretty much at the very bottom. However, light won't dim when I try to crank it. I can't jump it untill the roomate gets home. Maybe I'll just shove it off a cliff.
