Hello,
Hood Latch:
Living in the salt belt had apparently left my hood latch almost inoperable with crud and crust in the mechanism and this morning I really had to yank on the release handle. Although it opened, after I checked the oil, it refused to close. It would have been sad to have this happen on a road trip.
So, despite the temps in the teens, I cleaned the latch mechanism which comes off with three 10mm bolts, and cable end holder which also comes apart easily.
I ran some household oil as best as possible down the disengaged but upturned cable end sliding the cable in and out as much as possible and reassembled the latch assembly with some fresh oil. Works like new. So if your latch seems like it's awfully hard to pull........
Thought you should know.
