The joint between the front muffler and cat converter broke. The metal from the muffler, which surrounds the cat pipe and is clamped disintegrated, presumably from being exposed to the elements. What I want to do is take a pipe that will slide over the cat pipe, and also cover the remains of the pipe from the front muffler. Can yall help by telling me the diameter of the pipes (ID and/or OD)? The cat diameter will be slightly less than what the muffler pipe was (since muffler pipe goes over cat, cat OD = muffler ID). I can also cut a lengthwise cut into the pipe I buy. The idea is that I can put clamps that will squeeze the slit over on itself, reducing the diameter of the pipe until it squeezes well against the exhaust.
I also have some muffler bandage that I might wrap around the final solution.
I'm mainly doing this as a temp fix until I can really get around to doing something correct. The weather is bad around here. Plus I'm a student without a garage.
Thanks for comments,
Nathan
