It pays to ask! (240 Classic) 200 1993

Several months ago I saw a very clean 1993 240 Classic sedan in front of my work. I got the guy's email and started corresponding in case he ever wanted to sell. It turns out he is the former Mayor of San Diego and he hadn't driven the car lately except to church on Sundays because he had the police drive him to work.

To make a long story short, I took possession today. I have ALL of the receipts, every oil change and scheduled service done at the dealer since 1993! It is in unbelievable shape. It was kept garaged and he had the dealer reapply the Teflon coating every few years so the blue green paint is very shine. I know most people say that is snake oil / needless dealer markup, but boy does this car shine. I also have a 1992 and this feels and shifts so much better. I plan for this set of wheels to last me awhile! I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't have leather or a sunroof. But of course to paraphrase Herbst: if it doesn't have a sunroof, the sunroof will never break or leak.

*the line I remember was something like: "I would rather have roll-up windows. With roll-up windows, you'll never have to replace the motor."
