Brake servo problem? 900 1995

940 non-turbo.

Everytime I brake hard and sudden, the rpm would fluctuate widely between 1000 and 500 rpm for almost a minute, almost like it will stall.

I tried the brake servo test of pumping the brake holding it still, start the engine and feel the pedal depressed. I switched off the engine, but holding the pedal in its last position, and start the engine again. THe pedal depressed further. I did this sequence several times and each time I could feel the pedal going down deeper and deeper. Does this point to a non-faulty servo?

The servo is an expensive item, and I hate to change it if it is not absolutely necessary. Can anyone help me here?

Thanks.
Laozong
