mysterious idle problem 200

here is my problem, it is a curious one to say the least. this happens every time i start my volvo. which happens to be a 1986 245 dl. i have owned a lot of volvos, and love them till death do us part. tihs problem occurs every time i start the car. it could be sunny, rainy, or 10 degrees outside, that does not matter. what happens is the following i get in to start my car, and it starts perfect even at 245,000 miles. the car will idle fine till between 3:00 minutes and 3:30 mins. after that the idle fluctuates between 1,000 and 800 rpms for about 1 to 2 minutes. after that period the idle really becomes erratic, and threatens to stall. the idle is very poor and shakes the car badly, it smells like it is burning rich, which is common for a very cold car. and then at 7:00 mins to 7:30 mins the car wil idle up to 1,000 rpms, and settle to its normal 900rpm range and run fine. i should also mention that the driving characteristics of the car, if it is driving before this 7:30 mins warm up period, are such that it feels as if it choking out, almost like the main injector butterfly is not opening up properly. if it was carburerated, i would simply go throught the carb. and do a rebuild, but it is injected of course, and is driving me batty. i do hope someone comes across my dilema, and can point me to the proper answer. or at the very least give me a direction to go. thanks for the time. please help me.
