Hard starting 140-160

When I parked the car last fall it would start fairly easily. After being parked 3/4 of a year, it has become very hard to start, but once it starts it seems to run like it used to. Before when I started it, I depressed the gas pedal slowly while cranking. Now I have to pump it like crazy to make the engine fire repeatedly. If not I only get random firing and it dies when I turn the starter off.
What do you think is a good troubleshooting approach? I'm guessing looking at the cold start valve and/or thermal timer first? Should add this is a 74 with K-Jet/CIS.

Thanks in advance,

Kåre
