I have been overhauling the valve body on the AW70/71 in my 86 740T. A few of the plastic balls were worn down from 5.5mm to 4.25mm, making shifting a real pain.
On reassembly I find that I have the incorrect gasket set.
The ID plate on the side of the trans is missing, so I do not know if this is a 70 or 71. I THINK this year is supposed to be an AW71. The valve body components and covers are marked both AW 03-70 and AW 03-71, so this is no help in determining the model. I believe this is the original trans, but have no proof of that.
Most notably I find the gasket for the cover for the lower valve housing is significantly different, as well as both gaskets for the separator plate.
Are the gasket sets different between the 70 and 71?Can someone please help me?
Living 16 hours drive from the closest Volvo dealer makes this kind of mixup a real bad experience, as parts are not readily at hand.
TIA
