How hot do you suppose it gets under the hood of a PV

I was making a cover for the fuse block I scavenged from a 245 out of a floppy disk case. Either acrylic or polycarbonate, I suppose. It looks better than it sounds. Before I mounted it, I decided to do a little heat test and found that it gets soft at about 250 F. Made me wonder about the fuse block itself too. I'm mounting the fuses in the original spot, relatively high up on the driver's side. Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this?
